8th Prestwich Scouts and Explorers have had a blast over the last week attending Red Rose 24 up in the Lake District .
Red Rose 24 is an international Jamboree style camp which is usually held every 4 years. It has been brought forward by 2 years this year for West Lancs Scouts 50th Birthday (Organisers)
8th Prestwich took part in a wide variety of activities from Ghyll scrambling to a monopoly run in York
What made the last week even more spectacular was a bond formed between 8th Prestwich and a Scout group from Norway who were their neighbors on site. They learnt lots from each other about scouting in their own countries .
Although the weather was up and down the young people on camp got to partake in activities such as paddle boarding on lake Windemere , Night time hiking , Climbing , dry stone walling and more other amazing opportunities .
It’s safe to say that no one went home not having had a good time .
These amazing opportunities can only happen due to the hard work and commitment of the groups leaders for volunteering their time for a whole week .
We hope to see more camps like this in the future but this can only happen with volunteers, volunteers like you. If this is the type of thing you would like to do? Or maybe you have a skill like admin, fundraising etc. Find out more here!
